Several people who do Internet marketing and article marketing are very well familiar with the term white hat SEO and black hat SEO but are you familiar with these two terms. These terms are used to establish ways of doing search engine optimization where one is seen as an established or warranted way of doing it versus the other way which is seen as spam or devilish ways of achieving search engine optimization.

We will go ahead and break down both white hat and black hat SEO to get a better viewpoint of it and for you to make the verdict are both the same or is one really better than the other?

Let’s take a look at white hat SEO. With white hat SEO basically this is doing things slowly without the use of any type of script or software. So for instance, for you to be ranked in the search engines you have to go to each particular search engine listing ( Google, Yahoo, Bing etc) and present your website to be included in their directory. Once it’s included, depending on the time frame of that search engine, they will go and visit your website and get it indexed within that specific search engine so whoever is inquiring for your particular product or service can find you within that search engine.

Also with white hat SEO, it could be done with sending your website to a directory site where they will list your website under certain categories almost like a phone book would. You could also record your website to be bookmarked (through Digg through StumbleUpon etc) again doing things by hand without the use of any type of software or any type of bot that would do it repeatedly. This is basically white hat SEO in a nutshell.

Black hat SEO is basically the same thing but done on an robotic and more mighty scale. With black hat SEO if you want to submit your website to a search engine like Google or Yahoo or any of the other hundreds of different search engines out there you could use an actual piece of software to submit these all at the same time. Now again I ask you is this the same thing as white hat SEO? Also with black hat SEO there are many upon many pieces of software that would do just about anything for you and your website to be done that you probably may not be able to do manually or through white hat SEO protocol. A lot of those being blog commenting over hundreds of thousands of different types of blogs, also getting links through hundreds again thousands of different types of websites as well. Things of this nature can be automated and are automated daily but again does that make it a bad thing or a good thing?

There are many who are using black hat SEO to the extreme and making it very difficult for others to use black hat SEO properly and are considered a spammer. So it really depends on how you plan on using your search engine optimization for your website and for your business. Sure white hat SEO can be done and is done very well and on the other hand black hat SEO can be done the same exact way but in a more automated process and of course much quicker. When it boils down to doing article marketing or any marketing for that matter, decision lies on how well you use both and how well it performs for your business.
